Family hospice offers support and care to those living with a terminal illness, enabling them to live as comfortably and fully as possible. Whether or not there is a cure, comfort is available. Hospice works best when there are months rather than days to establish relationships and provide the strongest possible support system.
Talk with your primary care provider (physician or nurse practitioner) about hospice support. You may also contact the family hospice office for any additional information you may need.
No person will be denied admission to family hospice based on race, age, sex, creed, religion, disability, marital status, national origin, disease or ability to pay. St. Joseph Family Hospice serves an area in Idaho approximately 30 miles from Lewiston and along the Clearwater River to within Orofino's city limits.
The hospice benefit
Patients who are eligible Medicare or Medicaid are fully covered for all hospice services related to their terminal illness. Private insurance and other plans may have full or limited coverage. Family hospice staff will help to determine eligibility for Medicare or other insurance benefits. We can assist in identifying resources for payment, and arrangements can be made for those responsible for the payment of hospice services.
Family Hospice Volunteer Program
Family Hospice is currently seeking applicants for ambassadors, threshold singers, pet teams for regular visits, respite providers, licensed beauticians/barbers, and time and energy conservers in the interest of delivering superior comfort care to our patients and their family/caregivers. Successful applicants will complete training, pass a criminal background check, and comply with TB tests, immunizations, and annual competency training. Hours are as needed and when YOU are available. The rewards are endless! Meet new friends, make a difference!

Family Hospice Memorial Fund
Our ability to support the needs of hospice families is made possible in great part through memorial gifts. These are used to provide patient/family care, medications, and equipment required for comfort. Donations to family hospice are very much appreciated and all donations are tax-deductible.
