New Year Brings Three New Providers to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center

Three new providers have joined St. Joseph Regional Medical Center since the start of the new year.  The providers include Adam D. Bell, DO; Marvin R. Kym, MD; and Sunshine Huffman, MSN, ONP-C, CNOR, RNFA.

Dr. Bell is a board-certified general surgeon. He specializes in gastrointestinal surgery, colon cancer, breast surgery, robotic hernia repair, skin cancer, upper and lower endoscopy, hemorrhoid treatment, venous access device placement and emergency and trauma.

Dr. Bell attended medical school at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Missouri and conducted his general surgery residency at Metropolitan Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He started on Monday, Jan. 6 and joined Dr. Barry Smith and Dr. Sallee Jones in St. Joseph’s Medical Center at 307 St. John’s Way in Suite 4. 

Kym Orthopedics is now joining St. Joseph Regional Medical Center and brings a new orthopedic service line to the hospital.  Kym Orthopedics includes Dr. Kym, an orthopedic surgeon certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery; Sunshine Huffman, the first and only orthopedic-certified nurse practitioner in the state of Idaho; and experienced staff. 

Dr. Kym shared, “I’m excited to be with St. Joseph and provide healthcare in the Valley as part of a full-service hospital. Having a full-service hospital is so important to any community.”

St. Joseph Kym Orthopedics is a comprehensive practice and specializes in joint reconstruction of the hip, knee and shoulder; total joint revision surgery; sports injuries including tendon and ligament reconstruction; traumatic injuries; and hand, elbow and foot problems. The office is located at 3316 4th St., Suite 4B, in Lewiston.

Sister Pat Rosholt, vice president of mission, and Sister Margie Schmidt joined others to facilitate a blessing on the St. Joseph Kym Orthopedic office, providers and staff as they were welcomed to the St. Joseph family on Wednesday, Jan. 8.

Dr. Kym attended medical school at University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas and conducted his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Kansas school of medicine in Witchita.

Sunshine Huffman earned her bachelor in science in nursing from Lewis-Clark State College and her masters of science in nursing from Gonzaga University. In addition to being an orthopedic-certified nurse practioner, Huffman also has Perioperative nurse certification in the operating room and has further specialty training as a RN First Assistant through the University of California Los Angeles.

Interim CEO, Mike Poore, shared, “These providers are in addition to the 62 employed and affiliated providers that joined St. Joseph in 2019.” He added, “we fortunate to have such highly-skilled and regarded providers on our team.”
