*As of Monday, Jan. 18, 2020
St. Joe's has established this update* to share information with the public related to COVID-19 including the status of hospital operations and the safety measures being taken to protect our patients, staff and community. For information and data on our larger region, including testing and community prevalence rates, visit Public Health - Idaho North Central District or visit the Idaho Official Resource for COVID-19.
The number of COVID-19 cases continues to rise across the country, and the same is true here in our local area. With the increase in positive cases, we saw an expected increase in the number of patients in the hospital being treated for COVID-19, but the number is now declining. Currently, St. Joe's has three (3) patients who have tested positive and are being treated for COVID-19 in our hospital. This the same as last Monday.
At this time, our hospital has adequate capacity to meet patient needs, including in intensive care.
Hospital capacity is incredibly fluid, and changes daily based on admissions, discharges, transfers and the level of care patients – COVID-19 and otherwise – need at any given time. We are continuing to make facility adjustments to expand our ability to accept patients with COVID-19 and increase our capacity to treat and manage patients with COVID-19.
Health and Safety a Top Priority
St. Joseph Regional Medical Center is committed to providing the highest quality care and ensuring the safety of our patients, employees, providers and visitors.
We are continuing to adapt our hospital operations to safely care for our community during this evolving pandemic. We want to stress the importance of seeking medical care as needed. Please, do not delay care. We have safety measures in place to protect our patients from infection and quickly taking action, especially in an emergency, could save your life.
St. Joe's continues to take all the necessary precautions to protect our patients and staff from COVID-19, including limiting entry points to the facility, screening all individuals for symptoms of COVID-19, universal masking, and maintaining a very limited visitor protocol.
St. Joe's reminds the public to do their part to prevent the spread of COVID-19 by practicing social distancing and proper hand hygiene, and wearing a mask or face covering while in public.
