St. Joseph Regional Medical Center offers outpatient nutrition therapy services provided by a licensed, registered dietitian (RD) to assist you in managing your nutrition needs.
A registered dietitian is an expert specializing in food and nutrition science and who interprets nutritional needs throughout life. Proper nutrition is essential to healing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. St. Joseph offers a wide range of nutrition services for our patients.
Medical Nutrition Therapy
Medical nutrition therapy includes a review of what you eat and your eating habits, a thorough review of your nutritional health, and a personalized nutrition treatment plan. Together with the dietitian, you will set nutrition goals to improve your health.
Individual outpatient appointments for adults and pediatrics include (but are not limited to) medical nutrition therapy for:
- Weight management
- Kidney disease
- Heart disease
- Pre-diabetes
- Food allergies
- Gastrointestinal disorders
- Liver disease
- Hypertension
- Disordered eating
Why is Nutrition Important?
Medical experts recommend that individuals follow a healthy diet, maintain an ideal body weight and exercise to help prevent the onset or progression of disease. If you have a personal or family history of heart disease, diabetes, cancer obesity or if you are concerned about your overall health, then you may want to meet with a dietitian for an individualized meal plan.
