2018 Volunteer of the Year
Volunteers – Every Moment Makes a Difference
and in Delores Smith’s case, she’s been doing just that for over 14 years at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center where she has been selected as the 2018 Volunteer of the Year!
Delores began volunteering at St. Joseph in 2004 and has amassed 3,800 hours of volunteer time in various areas of the Auxiliary. She spent several years on the Auxiliary Board as the Social Chair, served as the co-chair of the Auxiliary Scholarship Committee, was an active member of the WineFest event, and continues to be anenergetic supporter of the Auxiliary Annual Salad Bar and Christmas Mini Tree and Wreath Auction events.
Delores has made a difference through many other volunteer activities within our community such as volunteering at the NAIA Baseball World Series and Veterans home.
Currently, you will find Delores volunteering every Thursday, greeting and helping ensure patients receive the care they need and assisting staff by running various errands to all areas of the hospital. If you are lucky enough to volunteer with her, she often brings a home baked treat as a thank you to others for volunteering. When it comes to volunteering, Delores is always ready and willing to say “YES, I will be glad to do that”. Delores is most deserving of the recognition as the 2018 Volunteer of the Year.
